Russia Claims Strike on Ukraine’s Flamingo Missile Facility

Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed its forces executed targeted long-range strikes in the Kyiv region, asserting that the strikes hit industrial infrastructure operated by Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point LLC. According to official bulletins from Moscow, the facility identified as the target served as a key location for storing chemical substances used in the production of solid-propellant boosters and was involved in warhead production for Ukrainian strike systems.

The report makes reference to the FP-5 ‘Flamingo’, a ground-launched cruise missile with reported specifications including a warhead of more than 1,000 kilograms and an operational range extending up to 3,000 kilometers. Fire Point LLC operates as a major Ukrainian defense technology developer, recognized for producing deep-strike uncrewed systems and cruise missile hardware.

While aerial attacks across the Kyiv region were confirmed by local authorities, independent military observers have not verified the extent of internal damage or operational disruption at Fire Point’s facilities. Ukrainian officials have not publicly confirmed or detailed the reported strike on the facility.

The dispersed nature of Ukrainian military manufacturing means a strike on one facility would not necessarily eliminate the broader production capacity for platforms like the FP-5 Flamingo.
